Warm Up in a Stylish Sweater

Writer's picture: Kerry GatewoodKerry Gatewood

Colder weather means cozying up in sweaters, and there are some fabulous styles to choose from. Whether you’re headed to the office, lunch with friends, or just relaxing at home, there is something to fit your style. The great thing about sweaters is that they can be layered over or under some of your other favorite pieces, and can easily be transitioned from business attire to weekend wear. A few of my favorite styles are listed below, cardigans, chunky and turtleneck sweaters are my go to.

Cardigans are incredibly versatile and can dress up or dress down any outfit. A solid cardigan sweater complements a bold print, while a patterned or sequined design can add flair to a plain top or little black dress. You can also get them in long or short styles, and choose from simple buttons, toggles, or no buttons at all.

Chunky sweaters add visual appeal and texture just by how they’re made. Larger, looser stitches with thicker yarn create a flowy top that doesn’t cling to every curve. They go great with jeans, leggings, and skirts of all lengths.

Turtleneck sweaters are classic and timeless. They’ve been around for decades and never seem to go out of style. With their high neckline, turtlenecks can be worn on their own, or layered under a blazer, trench coat, cape, or long cardigan. You can even get comfortable turtleneck sweater dresses that wrap you in warmth; don’t forget to add a belt to balance things out.

Stock up on sweaters of all styles, colors, weights, lengths, and fits to build out your winter wardrobe while keeping things fresh and interesting. Don’t be afraid to throw a sweater on top of your favorite blouse, or nestle it under a flowy cape coat. Mix-and-match your sweaters this season and let me know some of your favorite styles!
